Internship

You are not sure if the career path you’ve chosen is right for you, or you just want to get a feel for your potential work environment?

An internship in the public service is an opportunity to gain insight into an agency’s various fields of activity. Not only do you gain your first practical experience on the job, but also an impression of the interaction between the individual prospective career paths.

As a scientific government agency, the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) combines the traditional scope of work of the public service with scientific work and research activities. This seamless fusion of R&D and administrative tasks gives you a glimpse of the big picture that will exceed your expectations of your chosen career path.

Compulsory and voluntary internships

BSH offers unpaid compulsory internships for secondary school or university students. Detailed information on such internships are laid down in the respective education or study programme regulations.

Students can also take a voluntary internship of up to three months in one of BSH’s apprenticeship and trainee trades. These internships are offered as vocational orientation measures only and are not available to anyone seeking to bridge the time until the scheduled beginning of their study programme or vocational training.
