Ice reports and ice charts
At the German coasts and in the Baltic Sea area, ice occurs only seasonally. The ice winter 2017/2018 has been over since May and there are no current publications so far. Actualization for the new ice season will start in November/December 2018. Publications from the last season are currently evaluated and will be available in the archive soon.
The Amtsblatt describes the ice situation in the North Sea and Baltic Sea in German and English. Ice conditions at the German coast are reported more detailed in the Ostseebericht and Nordseebericht, respectively, in German language.
Ice charts describe the ice situation graphically. Once per week, an overview ice chart of the Baltic Sea is produced. If there is noticeable ice production along the German coast and in the western Baltic Sea, ice charts are drawn for the respective area up to a daily basis, depending on the ice situation. Different subsectional maps may be released.
Via the following links to the FTP-Server of the BSH you can access our archived publications. Please note that for areas without ice occurrence no ice reports and no ice charts are issued.
