Chart Sounding Datum

Chart Datum converted to LAT

In accordance with international agreement, the Chart Datum for nautical charts and small craft charts issued by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) for the German North Sea Coast and adjacent areas influenced by the tides have been completely converted to the height of the Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT).

The forecasted high and low tide levels at German reference points in the Tide Tables of the BSH have been based entirely on the LAT since 2005.

You will find further information in the leaflet issued jointly by the Federal Waterways and Shipping Agency, North and Northwest Region Offices (formerly the Waterways and Shipping Directorates North and Northwest) and the BSH, which is available for download (PDF, 143 KB).

A download is only for private purposes.
