To ensure the safety of small craft shipping, the BSH co-operates closely with the major German yachting associations. Together with Deutscher Seglerverband (DSV) and Deutscher Motoryachtverband (DMYV), which perform sovereign functions in the field of small craft licences on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Transport, the BSH issues the following official Harbout Pilots which are an important part of its comprehensive nautical information system.
The Pilots are tailored to the special needs of leisure mariners. Their focus is on the description and graphic representation of harbours.
