Motorboat engines with a shaft net power of max. 3.68 kW (5 BHP) can be operated
without a licence, in accordance with the applicable German regulations
"Sportbootführerschein See" (coastal navigation) and
"Sportbootführerschein Binnen" (inland waterways navigation).
Engines of this type are listed in the BSH's
"Freiliste"
(only in German).
The list includes all engine types for which the manufacturer, distributor
or import agent has submitted an expert opinion of an official testing
institution (e.g. TÜV, TU, or FH) or a statement which documents whether the
limit value of 3.68 kW is not exceeded.
