The Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie (Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency) maintains the national registry of all German seagoing vessels.
It keeps the following statistics:German merchant fleet statistics (updated monthly for the calendar year)
These statistics provide the monthly data of the current calendar year, starting from the last month of the preceding calendar year.
Subdivided by types of vessel, e.g. cargo and tank vessels, the numbers and gross tonnage (GT) of the individual types of vessel are shown.
The data of vessels registered temporarily under a foreign flag (bareboat charter) are given as a sum total at the end of the table.

These statistics cover the preceding month in each case.
Subdivided by types of vessel, e.g. cargo and tank vessels, the numbers and gross tonnage (GT) of the individual types of vessel are shown. Number and GT of vessels listed in the International Shipping Register (ISR) are included as well.
The data of vessels registered temporarily under a foreign flag (bareboat charter) are included, broken down by types of vessel.

These statistics cover the past 12 months, broken down by months. They include vessels under the German flag and under bareboat charter flags, giving numbers and GT both in figures and graphs.

These statistics cover the preceding month, broken down by bareboat charter flags. Numbers and GT are given both in figures and graphs.
Note: Seagoing vessels from GT 100 have been included in the statistics
