The BSH is the flag administration issuing documents to vessels which entitle them to fly the German flag.

Flag Documents are issued for yard trials of vessels and to foreign vessels operating temporarily under the German flag. The application form is available as a WORD file  in German. Authority vessels obtain a Flag Attestation.

All sea-going vessels entitled to carry the German flag are listed in the BSH's Flag Register.
