Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
To study the volcanism and geologic history of the Grimaldi Seamounts and the Bathymetrists Seamounts and parts of the adjacent Cape Verde Ridge and the Kane Gap. High-resolution bathymetric mapping and geological rock sampling of Cape Verde Ridge and the Kane Gap. High-resolution bathymetric mapping of the uncharted Grimaldi Seamounts. High-resolution bathymetric mapping of the uncharted Bathymetrists Seamount chain. Geological rock samping by dredges (targeting volcanic rocks) for geochemical and petrological studies.
