Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

The German Greenland Groundfisch Survey is carried out since 1981 on annual terms. Its aim is to monitor demersal fish stocks and relevant ecosystem parameters (plankton, hydrography). WH348 was carried out in October and November 2011. 80 stations were sampled in 2011 as compared to 94 and 90 in the previous two years. The sampling area was subdivided into 7 regional strata, of which the area NAFO SA 1C was not accomplished. Compared to 2009 and 2010, CPUEs for cod (Gadus morhua) have strongly declined (East GL) or are still at a very low level (West GL). In particular for West Greenand, catches in two areas are now in the range of <<1% of the historical high level in 1988.
