Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The main objective of the cruise is to survey the abundance and distribution of sole in the German EEZ. Standard gears are 7 m beam trawls. The estimated index serve as an important basis for stock assessments of flatfishes in the German Bight. This kind of survey is undertaken annually since 1976. Apart from sole and plaice, the amount of all other fishes caught and some invertebrate species are recorded. The second objective was to monitor the fish fauna of two planned national FFH (Flora-Fauna-Habitat) areas, Sylt-outer reef and Borkum-Reefground.
