Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
LAPE Project is an FAO Government Cooperation Project funded by the Government of Japan. The purpose of the cruise is to obtain acoustic estimates and characteristics of forage biomass in the Lesser Antilles area of the Caribbean. Secondary objectives include obtaining visual survey estimates of cetacean and flying fish abundance and in-situ information to calibrate remote sensing data for primary production estimates. All of these data are to be used in the ecosystem modelling of the Lesser Antilles pelagic ecosystem.
