Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Objective: International acoustic survey for pelagic fish stocks in the North Sea Narrative: RV 'SOLEA' left the port of Cuxhaven on 28th June 2005. The survey covered the southern part of the North Sea. All investigations were done during day time from 0400UTC - 1800UTC. The acoustic equipment was an echosounder EK60 with the hull mounted transducer ES38B and ES120-7. Trawl hauls were carried out to identify the target species. From each haul sub-samples were taken to determine length and weight of fish. Further samples of herring and sprat were used for additional investigations (i.e. sex, maturity, age). On 74 stations temperature and salinity were recorded by a SBE 19+ CTD probe. The survey ended on 18th July 2005 after noon. RV 'SOLEA' entered the port of Cuxhaven the same day late evening.
