Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
In the context of the EU funded project called "SIBER" investigations into the spring bloom in the Baltic Sea was conducted. Conditions for the phytoplankton spring bloom at different stations were measured (in a transect) from the coast to the open sea and the influence of deep water onto the surface waters will be studied also. Further aims were getting water samples for mesocosm experiments and analysing water samples to give detailed information about the late winter water nutrient condition, phytoplankton species composition and biogenic silcate from surface and deep waters (under thermocline / halocline).
