Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The purpose of the cruise was to find out how cyanobacteria blooms and temperature- and salinity conditions influence the amount and distribution of phyto- and zooplankton and productivity, and the distribution, biomass and stomach contents of pelagic planktivorous fish (herring, sprat, threespine sticklebacks). The cruise was arranged as a cooperation between Finnish Institute of Marine Research, Game and Fisheries Research Institute, Finnish Environment Institute, and Univ. Helsinki and Jyvaskyla. This was the 1st joint cruise between R/V Aranda and R/V Muikku, during which the pelagic ecosystem was investigated from plankton to fish.
