Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
Student Training objective: Train graduete students in standard methods of sampling shelf + slope species, esp. fishes. Provide training in open oceanecology, community structure + taxonomy. Science-objectives: 1. Continue ongoing project at "The Point" for diet & stable isotope analyses for whole system trophodynamics project. Collect data there related to species distributions & community structure. 2. Collect baseline data on species distributions & community structure of Deep Coral Banks. Survey Coral Bank locations & m sizes. Compare catches around & in coral banks. All data collected will bensed in preparation for an nocoming cruise (mid-sep) to the same areas. Isodynamics of the Hatteras middle slope
