Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:
The overall goal of our research is to increase our understanding of the mechanisms governing the existence of highly abundant species of subtropical-tropical oceanic planktonic copepods. Part of this research is oceanographic. We are determining the vertical distribution and abundance of juveniles and adults of the abovementional species in relation to depth, temperature and food abundance at different locations of the tropical Atlantic. During this cruise we operated mainly at 18?50'N and later at 25?N, encountering differenz hydrographic regimes. Our multiples net system and mesh allowed to collect quantitatively all copepodid stages and adults of the most abundant copepod species. Simultaneously we conducted feeding studies of the most abundant copepod species.
