Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

Objective: International acoustic survey for pelagic fish stocks in the Baltic. Narrative: RV "SOLEA" left the port of Rostock-Warnemunde on 3rd October. The joint German-Danish acoustic survey covered the whole sub-divisions 22, 23 and 24 and the southern part of the Kattegat. In addition an intercalibration exercise was performed with RV "ARGOS" in the northeast part of the Bornholm Sea. All investigations were done at night as in last years. The acoustic equipment was an echosounder EK 500 connected to the Bergen-intergrator B1500. The transducer 38-26 was installed in a towed body. 48 trawl haul were carried out to identify the targets. From each haul sub-samples were taken to determine length and weight of fish. Further sub-samples were collected for age determination of herring and sprat. After 40 trawl hauls the hydrographic condition was investigated by a XCTD-sonde.
