Ziel der Reise / Objectives of Cruise:

The main goal was the investigation of deep and cold water masses which are found at great depth below the very warm surface waters of the equatrial western Pacific. Deep-ocean mixing and advection are important for long-term changes of the global climate system over hundreds of years. The flow of deep water across the equator is an important link in the global ocean-atmosphere system. CTD profiles with rosette sampler for nutrient and antropogenic tracer analyses were used intensively.
